Madison High School Alumni Association awards three scholarships to members of the class of 2010
The scholarship committee of the Madison High School Alumni Association is pleased to
announce the 2010 recipients of our MHSAA Scholarships -- Sarah Beth Howard of Tomball, Texas; Alison Ariel Smith of Bethpage, Tennessee; and Karly Ann North of Madison, Tennessee. MHSAA scholarships are given annually to current high school seniors who exemplify outstanding scholarship and citizenship and who are descendants of Madison High School graduates.
Sarah Beth Howard is the daughter of Jeffery (MHS class of 1978) and Ronnie Howard. She recently completed her senior year at Klein Oak High School in Spring, Texas. She received her $1,000 scholarship during Klein Oak’s commencement exercises. While a student at Klein Oak, Sarah maintained a 3.75 GPA. She was a member of the cheerleading squad, student council (vice president for four years), National Honor Society, Spanish Club and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Sarah also was a volunteer for several community organizations while in high school. She is attending Texas Tech University and plans to major in nursing.
Alison Ariel Smith is the daughter of Robert and Sheila Smith, and granddaughter of Robert L. Smith (MHS class of 1958). She recently completed her senior year at Station Camp High School in Gallatin, Tennessee. Her $1,000 scholarship was presented during Station Camp’s commencement exercises. While a student at Station Camp High School, Alison was a member of the chorus and the advanced art class. While in high school, Alison volunteer for several community organizations. She is attending Middle Tennessee State University and plans to major in art education/visual art/designing.
Karly Ann North is the daughter of Mark (MHS class of 1984) and Kristin North, and granddaughter of Steve North (MHS class of 1959). She recently completed her senior year at Hume-Fogg Academic High School in Nashville, Tennessee, and was presented with the scholarship during the school's commencement exercises. While a student at Hume-Fogg, Karly maintained a 3.77 GPA. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, the Hume-Fogg Theater Company and volunteered for several community organizations. She is attending the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga and plans to major in nursing.
Scholarship applications for the graduating class of 2010 will be available in December.
